We’re actively seeking a talented Sr. Derivatives Analyst to join our Derivative Operations Team in Newport Beach, CA. This role is onsite with a hybrid work mode.
As a Sr Derivatives Analyst, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by providing full operational day to day coverage to Traders and Portfolio Managers trading financial Derivatives on behalf of the firm and its entities. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of 4 people in the Corporate division.
How you will make an impact:
Interact with colleagues, custodian banks, external parties, internal departments (Accounting, Audit, Treasury, Compliance, Law and Enterprise Risk Management) and other areas where necessary to ensure timely settlement of all cash flows associated with traded instruments.
Have full knowledge and understanding of all common OTC traded and Exchange traded derivatives including execution, clearing and associated settlement.
Review and resolve all valuation discrepancies within the stated deadlines.
Review and validate the daily collateral management process with counterparties, Risk, Accounting, Treasury, and portfolio managers to ensure all collateral activity is settled accurately and timely.
Develop full working knowledge of rules and regulations surrounding the Dodd/Frank Act requiring us to centrally clear certain types of derivatives.
Work in a team environment as well as autonomously to meet strict deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
The experience you will bring:
5+ years derivatives experience working in investment operations/middle office role in asset management, Hedge Fund, or investment banking
College degree in finance, accounting, or similar discipline, is preferred.
Thorough understanding of Investment Operations, new concepts and regulations and technology being used, including trading workflows and typical systems involved
Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory (STAT) relating to securities investments.
CFA/CAIA/MBA beneficial, but not required.
Detailed knowledge and experience of providing full operational support to trading and Portfolio Management across all Listed and OTC Derivative instruments.
With minimal supervision, must be able to work with internal and external counsel and/or senior investment professionals to resolve complex issues.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performing all responsibilities by following documented processes and procedures, while exhibiting attention to detail and accuracy while showing initiative to help improve or redesign key processes.
Advanced research, problem solving, and resolution skills, including familiarity with legal documents and internal files related to securities owned.
What will make you stand out:
Thorough working knowledge of complex security types, including Bilateral OTC (IRS, Cross Currency, Equity TRS, CDS, Options, Forwards), Cleared and Exchange-traded products
Experience and ability to leverage the following systems: Bloomberg, Calypso, MarkitWire, ePam, AcadiaSoft, and TriResolve.
Proven history of self-driven process improvements that may involve IT resources to increase scalability and reduce manual errors/risks.

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
