Salary
Support Salary Scale Grade S04: $17.80 per hour; starting
Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act this position is non-exempt from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System.
Role
This position safely uses, operates, and maintains a Board of Education vehicle to load, transport and unload food, equipment and supplies to Food and Nutrition Service Sites, while obeying all driving laws and Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) regulations for driving FCPS vehicles.
Essential Functions
Reporting directly to the Procurement Coordinator, the Food Service Satellite Driver performs the following duties:
Maintain vehicle cleanliness for the safe transport of food.
Notify Procurement Coordinator of any vehicle concerns or needed repairs.
Load, check, transport, unload and puts products away in the correct storage location. Verify delivery of Food and Nutrition Service equipment, supplies, and food to Food and Nutrition Service sites.
Maintain security of cargo while in transit.
Operate a hand dolly for transportation of product from loading docks to inside school kitchen/storage areas.
Report any change in cargo condition to Food and Nutrition Service Procurement Coordinator upon delivery.
Pick up daily deposits from schools and deliver to designated bank.
Operate a Board of Education vehicle in accordance with Board policies and regulations.
Follow the dress code and hygiene requirements including the wearing of non-skid sole shoes at all times.
Other Functions
Assist in organizing storage rooms, coolers and freezers.
Assists with counting inventory.
Accountable for inventory of food and or supplies in their possession.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Procurement Coordinator or designee.
Required Qualifications
Education/Training/Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Certification/License
Possession of a valid driver’s license with no more than two (2) points within the last two (2) years.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to read, write and do general business math.
Work within a team environment and under a tight delivery schedule.
Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices.
Communicate effectively in English, by reading and in written and spoken formats.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Physical Requirements
Consistently lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Work in environments subject to extreme hot and cold temperatures, such as commercial kitchens, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, refrigerated trucks.
Ability to enter/exit a vehicle repeatedly daily.
Ability to twist and bend.
Ability to spend long hours standing and walking.
Ability to reach with both hands and both arms.
Sufficient manual dexterity to grasp, handle, manipulate, and/or feel objects and use office technology.
Sufficient mobility to move about the work area.
Sufficient vision to read and comprehend printed materials, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects.
Occasionally climb or balance.
Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Work Environment
Regularly work with loud noise, ex: food preparation equipment and raised voices associated with school cafeterias and commercial kitchens.
Preferred Qualifications

One year (1) previous driving/delivering experience.
Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs.
