High bandwidth, reliable connectivity, and communications are a crucial component in making this ambition a reality. Future missions that require HD video, robotics, sensing applications, telemetry, biometrics, and astronaut to astronaut voice communications will need the advanced capabilities that cellular networks enable. This is why NASA selected Nokia Bell Labs to deploy the first 4G/LTE network on the Moon to test lunar surface communications for future applications. We relish this challenge – to deploy a network that will operate under the most extreme conditions imaginable – operate autonomously with self-healing capabilities - pushing the boundaries of communications - enabling the exploration and settlement of other moons and planets … are you up to the mission?
The successful candidate will be responsible to architect, develop and unit test networking and operations and management software for an end-to-end communication system and products in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and start-up culture. He/she will be a senior engineer with extensive software architecture and development experience and a successful product delivery track record. As a senior engineer, he/she will be expected to help lead and guide the broader software development team. He/she must be an innovative, self-motivated thinker with a proactive and creative approach for architecting, developing and implementing networking solutions, and O&M software across the communications system including both network, end user, and mission command elements.
Key Attributes and Qualifications:

Independent, self-starter who can work with a dynamic and highly motivated group of researchers and software developers.
Ability to effectively manage changing requirements
Experience as subject matter expert or key technical lead for development teams
Strong working experience with 3GPP network management solutions for both radio, core and user equipment elements.
Experience with network function virtualization management solutions.
Strong experience with security protocols and solutions for network management.
Experience with cloud network solutions development and deployment desirable.
Strong experience with data base management
Understanding of AI/ML applied to network management is a plus.
Solid SNMP development experience including experience with standard MIBs and enterprise MIB development
Solid Java/JS/C++/HTML/PHP/Phyton development experience
Strong knowledge of XML, JSON, Protobuf data formats
Knowledge of networking and messaging protocols such as SNMPv3, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, REST, WS, AMQP
Experience in software development for embedded or resource constrained systems and management applications.
Experience in building applications managing heterogeneous systems would be a plus
Prior experience of developing commercial network element management products or solutions to completion is highly desirable.
Strong experience in software architecture of solutions for complex problems using the right technology or approach for a particular system.
