Job overview:

Schneider is seeking a solution focused Area Planner (Dispatcher) in Rancho Dominguez to be accountable for establishing, communicating and executing the dispatch plan by matching available drivers and equipment with customer load tenders. As the recognized expert on freight flows for the geography, you will collaborate with Operations, Sales, Pricing, and Customer Service to ensure overall key factor and business success.

Responsibilities:

• Establish the market plan to include: shift direction, priority of freight, load and stage, owner operator (driver) availability, etc. Continually assess market conditions and performance and adjust plan accordingly.
• Establish priority and direction for container/chassis assignment and manage optimal loaded and empty container appointments. Focused on lowest controllable cost (i.e. demurrage, per diem, chassis cost etc.)
• Analyze shipping trends using root cause analysis to implement solutions for continuous improvements of the market.
• Identify root cause of poor service trends and collaborate with Operations and Customer Service to develop action plans to restore service to desired levels.
• Maintain consistent attendance while exhibiting behavior in alignment with our core values.
