To perform advanced intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and epilepsy telemetry. Perform routine neurophysiological procedures as needed. Responsible for attaching electrodes to patient and operating electroencephalograph equipment which procedures a multiple channel tracing portraying biopotential activity in a patient's head which a physician subsequently analyzes in diagnosing patient's condition. Essential Duties:
- Able to performs all neurodiagnostic tests: EEG, monitors cerebral embolizations in Angio Suite, video telemetry procedures, and EP tests.
- Able to performs all Intraoperative Monitoring Procedures
- Position requires use of pager while on duty and after hours including nights and weekend. Must respond to page within 10 minutes.
- Maintains staff/patient confidentiality.
- Possesses knowledge of specialized equipment specific to neurodiagnostic and Intraoperative Monitoring procedures at USCUH.
- Maintains the proper use of all related laboratory and specialized equipment and supplies.
- Educates patient/patient’s family about testing according to each patient’s individual needs and documenting results.
- Documents and reports accurately the results of all monitoring and procedures performed.
- Ensuring that all procedures and test are completed in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for owns knowledge of trends in neurodiagnostic, equipment and procedures through formal and informal continuing education.
- Able to competently perform the following procedures: EEG’s Evoked Potentials – SSEP LE Evoked Potentials – SSEP UE Evoked Potentials – Visual Evoked Potentials – BAERS Cerebral Emoblizations, Aneurysm Clipping Intraoperative Monitoring- SSEP, spEMG, tEMG Intraoperative TceMep Intraoperative Cranial nerve monitoring Intraoperative EEG for Burst SuppresionIntraoperative Carotid Endarterectomy
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req High school or equivalent
- Req 2 years 2-3 years’ experience performing neurophysiology studies advanced intraoperative monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Associate's degree AA degree from an accredited school preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Certified in Neuro Intraop Monitoring - CNIM (ABRET) CNIM (Certified Neurodiagnostic Intraoperative Monitoring) required
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The hourly rate range for this position is $45.00 - $76.50.
