The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office acts as an intermediate service agency between the California Department of Education and the 33 school districts in San Bernardino County to help meet the educational needs of all children county-wide. Job Summary

The Special Education Teacher, Visually Impaired provides individualized education programs to students. The teacher is responsible for developing, implementing, and relating the daily activities of the students to the core curriculum. Through continuous collaboration with a variety of individuals and groups, including parents, district and county personnel, and various agencies, the teacher provides for the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student by using a variety of instructional strategies. The teacher continually assesses students’ progress to maximize their fullest potential. For the current assignment, the Special Education Teacher for the visually impaired develops individualized education plans to meet the needs of visually impaired students either in a classroom setting or as an itinerant.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a California teaching credential authorizing the teaching of students with visual impairments OR proof of eligibility to obtain an authorization.

NECESSARY MATERIALS FOR APPLICATION • Completed Ed-Join online application (all fields must be filled in); • Current Resume; • Copy of valid California Teaching Credential authorizing service to students with visual impairment OR proof of eligibility to obtain an authorization; • One (1) current letter of reference (dated within the last three (3) years). Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and provide all necessary materials online before the stated deadline to qualify as a candidate. A copy of a current United States government-issued driver’s license or identification document is required before hire.
