Responsibilities - Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of highly skilled security and network operations engineers, promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Define and implement strategic plans for the security engineering team, aligning with broader organizational goals.
- Oversee all engineering functions, ensuring systems are secure, efficient, and continuously improved.
- Direct and lead engineering-related projects from conception through completion, ensuring they meet all milestones and deliverables.
- Act as the principal engineering evangelist when interfacing with clients, articulating technical capabilities and project impacts.
- Collaborate with other department heads and clients to integrate security practices across the organization, enhancing overall infrastructure resilience.
- Encourage innovation in security technologies and methodologies, staying ahead of industry trends and threats.
- Proactively manage risks associated with the organization's security posture, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Handle typical managerial responsibilities, including staffing, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills: - At least 15 years of experience in the security engineering field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role within IT or cybersecurity, demonstrating experience leading teams, managing projects, and strategic planning.
- Extensive experience with security tools (i.e., SIEM, Endpoint, DLP), understanding their deployment, management, and optimization.
- Proven track record of successfully leading technical teams, with strong skills in team building, mentoring, and leadership.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution, capable of setting and achieving long-term goals.
- Strong project management skills, able to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, crucial for team leadership and interfacing with clients and other stakeholders.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically to tackle complex security challenges.
- Decision-making ability, with a knack for weighing the strategic implications of various security decisions.
Other Requirements of the position include: - Able and willing to support domestic on-site travel with customers or at ECS offices. Any travel will be short in duration and well-planned.
- Wear professional business attire for in-person meetings and teleconferences with internal and external organizations.
- Able and willing to obtain a US TOP SECRET Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Desired Skills: - Experience in overseeing NOC operations, ensuring the continuous monitoring and stability of network systems.
- Proficiency with artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with cloud security architectures and solutions.
- Experience in developing and managing relationships with external security vendors and consultants.
- Skills in negotiating contracts and managing service level agreements (SLAs) with security service providers.
- Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions to security challenges, enhancing the organization's ability to adapt to new threats.
- Strong ability to influence organizational culture and attitudes towards cybersecurity, promoting a security-first mindset across all departments.
- Ability to manage the dynamics of change within the team, keeping them motivated and aligned with the organizational vision during transitions.
- Possess CISSP certification.
