Job Overview

The Finance and Operations Administrator for the Georgetown University School of Medicine (SOM) plays a pivotal role in supporting the financial and operational success of the school. The Administrator provides a broad range of operational and financial support to the Office of the Dean, as well as offices and stakeholders across the School of Medicine, to ensure timely, accurate, and robust financial and operational processes.

The role is expected to provide excellent customer service to stakeholders, both internal and external to SOM, and provide analysis and resolution recommendations on issues related to financial and operational matters. Additionally, the role will manage the financial and administrative aspects of GUSOM’s Anatomical Donor Program.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Track revenue and expense budget-to-actuals
• Assist in preparing financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
• Process student reimbursement requests and payments
• Assist with day-to-day SOM operational needs, to include central supplies and facility request needs
• Advise on financial and operational decision making, to include process improvements and maximizing financial/operational efficiencies across the SOM
• Provide support to the anatomical donor program, specific to finance/procurement and management of donor relations and administrative processing (donor paperwork, communications, and mailings)

Work Interactions

The Finance and Operations Administrator reports to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Resource Management. The individual will work collaboratively with colleagues across the SOM, especially within the Office of the Dean and Anatomical Donor Program to support the school’s mission. There will be frequent coordination with other SOM faculty and staff, including the Medical Center Finance Office. The role provides support to ensure efficient financial management, compliance with policies, and smooth operational workflows across all SOM departments.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
• 1-3 years of work experience or equivalent training
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects at once with minimal need for supervision
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to think outside the box and to solve problems creatively
• Ability to employ good judgment toward effective communication with all staff levels

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a higher education or healthcare setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications
• Experience with Workday
