Welding Specialist - 2nd Shift - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains all automatic welding equipment operational in production shops
- Assists Welding Engineer in performance of duties and assist with development of new processes and procedures
- Trains and assists welders/operators in production welding environment and evaluate production welds to applicable welding standards/procedures
- Must be able to operate and qualify on automatic welding equipment
- Performs development projects as directed by Welding Engineer.
- Assists in daily technical maintenance and troubleshooting on all automatic welding
- Assists in the installation of new welding equipment in production shops
- Instructs hourly operators for acceptance and qualifications
- Examines and evaluates production welds for acceptability per specified procedures.
- Performs other investigations and test programs as required
- Assists Welding Engineering with process improvements implementation of new processes, procedures, or equipment
- Sets up shop welds per Welding Engineer’s direction and/or shop supervision
- Programs welding parameters on programmable equipment
- Assists and instructs on setup of robotic welding equipment
- This is a 2nd Shift Position
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
- High school graduate, or equivalent. Formal welding technical education is a plus but not required (i.e. trade school)
- Ideal applicant has 3 – 5 years of welding experience in a shop environment
- Applicants should have a good understanding/working knowledge of manual, semi-automatic, and mechanized/automatic welding processes such as the following: SMAW, GTAW, AGTAW-CW/HW, AGMAW, SAW, SA-GMAW.
- Experience with robotic welding is plus but not mandatory
- Hands-on welding experience not required but is desirable to aid in training of shop personnel
- Ability to work on a PC, using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook (email), Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to work well with various departments such as hourly personnel, shop supervision, Engineering support, etc.
- Ability to follow detailed manufacturing plans and provide direction to shop personnel
- Availability to work overtime, some daily and occasional weekend support
- US Citizenship required, no dual citizenships allowed. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical/drug screen and background check.
