Job Summary: The Assistant Principal, serves to support the Principal as the school and educational leader responsible for development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of a comprehensive program of educational and student services. Administers the program in accordance with diocesan policies, statutory requirements, and administrative rules and regulations. Serves as an advocate for the staff, school, and school community as appropriate. The Principal, with the approval of the President, appoints the Assistant Principal of Operations.
The Assistant Principal of Operations reports directly to the Principal and is responsible for all areas of school operation in the Principal’s absence. The prime responsibility is to assist the Principal in providing and implementing an appropriate oversight of the schools operational processes and procedures. The Assistant Principal of Operations is also responsible for the fulfillment of various other administrative and organizational functions.
The Assistant Principal of Operations should be able to:

**Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Supervision and Controls over the Work:
Works under the general supervision of principal and supports carrying out the guidance and direction of the School President. Utilizes the strategic plan, diocesan goals and policy, and the approved school improvement plan to guide both personal leadership and the work of the school staff. Annual evaluation will be based upon this job description, goals and objectives specific to the school or the position and the performance of the Assistant Principal.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supports in sustaining a school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of learning and teaching for students and staff: Sustains focus on a shared mission and clear vision for improvement and engages stakeholders in the essential conversations for ongoing improvement of school daily operations. Supports faculty and staff in ensuring operational needs within the classroom and whole building are met in order for all school events and days to sun smoothly and safely.
2. Oversees School Safety: Effectively engages the entire community to develop a more nuanced/expanded understanding of what it means to be safe. Provides for the physical, intellectual, and emotional safety in order for effective teaching and learning to take place. Collaborates with the Dean of Students on implementing, executing, and promoting safety protocols and updates. Directly oversees Security personnel and school security upgrades.
3. Oversees Maintenance, Facilities: Directly oversees Maintenance and Facilities Personnel. Works closely with the facilities manager to ensure proper execution and scheduling of maintenance and facilities needs and requests daily. Works with the Facilities Manager to ensure school landscaping is kept up and updated.
4. Partnering with the school community to promote student learning: Understands the greater community and works to establish a genuine partnership model between home and school. Aligns school and community efforts and values as a work in progress that must be nurtured, sustained, and monitored, and is able to influence others to adopt the same understanding. Community engagement decisions are made that result in improved teaching and learning.
5. Leadership and Governance:
a. Consistently demonstrates high moral, ethical, and professional standards of performance and personal integrity, which includes addressing problems and issues in an open, honest, and timely manner. Ensures proper conduct which goes beyond the practice of avoiding what is wrong and instead focusing on choosing to do what is right. Serves as a champion for the school, avoiding actual or perceived behavior personally or among the staff which may cast a negative impression on the school.
b. Models and promotes trust, enthusiasm, rapport, respect and openness among faculty, staff, students, and members of the community. Celebrates successes and recognizes the achievements of others.
c. Creates a professional environment by assuring that personal and staff interactions with others in the school, community, and board are conducted with utmost respect and professionalism.
d. Honors the ideas of others even when in disagreement with those ideas. Works collaboratively to resolve disagreements and seek mutually respectful solutions.
e. Actively participates in meetings, workshops and conferences that involve decisions affecting the diocese and/or the school. Advocates for the school needs by providing input to the decision making process of the diocese. Respects, supports, and implements decisions once made, and acts to ensure that staff are equally supportive.
f. Participates in school academic, athletic, and co-curricular activities to supervise and advocate for the school.
The local circumstances and the particular experience, talents and attributes of the principal and assistant principal determine the specific responsibilities of the assistant principal.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
**Act as administrator in the absence of the principal, making decisions necessary for the smooth operation of the school during such absence
**Act as a consultant to the principal
**Assist in disciplinary actions, when needed
**Provides direction, support, and oversight of the following:
Director of Athletics
Dean of Students
Maintenance and Facilities
Attendance Clerk
Must Conduct weekly check-in meetings with directors under his/her supervision
Participates in weekly check-in meetings with the Principal on regular basis
Represent the principal at school functions when the principal is unable to attend
Assists w/coordinating Graduation and Graduation Committee (Counselors, Dean of Academics, Maintenance, Principal)
Develop, direct and participate in activities that enhance school and community relations
Serves as a member of the:
Leadership Team
Disciplinary Review Board (Chair)
Summer Programs
The Assistant Principal plans, implements, and oversees the summer programs. Responsibilities include the following:
1. To create and monitor all safety and health programs for the summer school. Make sure all safety procedure are in place for summer school
2. To assist when needed summer school/camp operation, to include academic, extra-curricular, athletic, and off-campus activities.
3. To retain and evaluate the services of appropriate staff and teachers to organize and run the program
4. To arrange for thoughtful communications with and events for the parents of the summer students.
5. To work with the business manager to develop a budget and to ensure the profitability of any summer program.
6. To prepare appropriate summary reports for the school, the President, and advisory board when needed
7. To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
8. To support the school and its leadership
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
Masters in Education Administration preferred
Experience in Administrative Roles, Strong record of leadership and management of personnel and programs.
Experience with high school students is preferred.
Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills with all stakeholders.
Strong initiative, organizational & time management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Punctuality, and ability to travel as required; weekend availability is required.
Proficiency in relevant software applications needed to perform job functions.
Ability to successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check.

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
