POSITION SUMMARY
The Principal Apprentice will have the extraordinary opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education by both experiencing in house training with our Leadership and Professional Development department and by participating as a principal apprentice with a mentor working on campus. This role combines visionary leadership, instructional expertise, and effective management skills to create an innovative learning environment that meets the needs of students in the 21st century. The Principal Apprentice will be responsible for supporting the principal in all aspects of the school's operations, fostering a positive culture, and ensuring the implementation of the HISD Characteristics and Year 2035 Competencies.
This position is a one-year term position.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
• Assist in School Leadership: Collaborate with the school principal to develop, implement, and evaluate school improvement plans, policies, and procedures. • Instructional Support: Support instructional leadership initiatives by observing classroom instruction, providing feedback to teachers, and assisting in the development of innovative teaching practices. • Student Support: Foster a positive school culture and climate conducive to student learning and well-being. Implement strategies to support student achievement, behavior management, and socio-emotional development. • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance leadership skills, educational knowledge, and administrative competencies.

• Parent and Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, community members, and local organizations. Facilitate communication and collaboration to support student success. • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties such as budget planning, scheduling, student enrollment, and facilities management. • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and utilize data to inform decision-making processes related to school improvement, student performance, and resource allocation. • Special Projects: Participate in special projects, committees, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the school district.

Valid Texas Principal certification
2-3 years of administrative experience as Principal, Assistant Principal, or Dean of Instruction required.
At least two years of exemplary teaching or comparable leadership experience is essential.
