Do you have experience delivering software engineering innovations to customers in the Department of Defense (DoD) and intelligence communities? Are you a problem solver for system and software resiliency challenges in the presence of rapidly increasing threats? The Software Solutions Division (SSD) is looking for a customer-focused technical leader to develop innovative software solutions and deliver impactful work to customers in the DoD and intelligence communities.

The SEI helps advance software engineering principles and technologies and serves as a national resource in software engineering, computer security, and artificial intelligence. The SEI works closely with defense and government organizations, industry, and academia to continually improve software-intensive systems. Our core purpose is to help organizations improve software engineering capabilities and develop or acquire the right software, defect free, within budget and on time, every time. The Software Solutions Division works with customers to make software a strategic advantage.
Position Summary
The Senior Software/Systems Resiliency Engineer for the DoD/Intelligence communities is a critical role responsible for shaping the technical agenda for research and customer solutions. The senior engineer will work directly with customers in the intelligence community and DoD programs to understand their software engineering and resiliency challenges, identify innovative technical solutions, lead and contribute to the development of software-based resiliency solutions, and ensure delivery and impact to customers. This role requires technical leadership, extensive experience in the intelligence community and DoD, and knowledge of the latest innovations and research in software and system resiliency to ensure SEI delivers state-of-the-art capabilities to customers.

Develop and Deliver Software/Systems Engineering Solutions:
- Create new customer engagement opportunities by developing and leading the organization's intelligence and resiliency technical solutions, ensuring alignment with national security priorities and SEI research objectives.
- Provide technical analysis of software architectures, control interface capabilities, and validation techniques.
- Provide guidance on the integration of DoD, intelligence, and space operations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Lead customer engagements to understand requirements, provide technical consultations, and ensure delivery of impactful solutions.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends, technologies, and threats in the DoD, intelligence, and space sectors to inform strategic planning.
Program Leadership Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise small to medium sized teams focused on customer work plans, deliverables, and engagements.
- Mentor and lead a customer-focused team with an environment of continuous delivery and innovation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all operations.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Establish collaboration and partnerships with other parts of SEI, CMU, DoD, intelligence, and space communities.
- Foster strong relationships with thought leaders, external partners, DoD and civilian government agencies.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities to advance technical solutions in software and systems resiliency.
- Collaborate with SSD program development to grow and evolve opportunities in the intelligence and space communities.
Innovation and Development:
- Lead research and development efforts to advance the organization's capabilities in intelligence gathering, analysis, and related operations.
Qualifications:
- PhD or master's degree in a technical related field, or 15+ years of related intelligence or space domain experience.
- Previous experience working at or with DoD FFRDCs in the areas of systems engineering, software security, software architecture and design.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, operational oversight, and resource management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work most of the time independently onsite at a customer facility while providing regular and effective communication with SEI.
- Proven track record of innovation and leadership in intelligence and space initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with thought leaders, FFRDCs, government agencies, defense contractors in the intelligence and space sectors.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, DoD titles and policies governing intelligence and space operations.
- Security clearance at the TS/SCI level or higher.

Travel:
- Will be required to travel on overnight assignments, occasionally for several days or a week. Up to 40% travel may be required.
