Job Summary/Company:
Are you seeking a new opportunity in the financial services regulatory and legislative affairs arena? Sparks group has partnered with a financial services company and together we are recruiting for a Regulatory and Legislative Affairs Counsel to join the team. In this 100% remote role, you'll work closely with our VP Director of Regulatory and Legislative Affairs to advocate for the payments industry and related issues. Your role involves monitoring industry developments, developing advocacy positions, and engaging with federal agencies, Congress, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Draft, or oversee outside counsel drafting of, persuasive advocacy documents such as comment letters, whitepapers, blog posts, and meeting decks
Advocate for our positions in meetings with federal agencies on payments issues
Serve as a primary point of contact with member executives, convening and managing meetings and calls, and addressing member inquiries and requests
Develop and execute issue-oriented advocacy meetings with regulators, Congressional staff, trade associations, and industry groups
Maintain strong relationships with government and legislative affairs staff at member banks and other trade associations on shared concerns
Assist with planning and executing the organizations annual conference
Collaborate with the VP Director of Regulatory and Legislative Affairs and other team members on various projects and initiatives as needed
Liaise with member executives and respond to inquiries
Lead advocacy meetings with stakeholders
Stay informed about industry developments
Act as a subject matter expert for staff and represent us at public forums
Qualifications/Background Profile:
JD and licensed attorney, preferably in NY or DC
5-10 years’ experience in payments-related matters
Strong communication, research, and writing skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and virtual meeting platforms
