Responsible for direct support of fundraising unit within the Foundation. The Development Assistant partners with a development officer (s) to support all fundraising initiatives. The Development Assistant must be comfortable working with data including data entry into the donor database, executing queries and evaluating data in donor reports. The Development Assistant will be expected to independently manage some writing assignments including letters, stewardship reports and briefs. Minimum Education. / Knowledge. Must show evidence of good writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Desire to work and grow in this profession is essential. Strong writing, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills necessary. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint needed and willingness to learn new programs specific to the development field i.e. Raisers Edge, Convio, In Design, and Donor Drive. Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently and be able to collaborate with others. Needs to be flexible, courteous, patient, and positive and be an enthusiastic team player. Should be able to adapt easily to constantly changing situations, be creative and able to produce prompt and effective results. Experience with social media preferred. Functional Accountabilities. Development Activities Partner with Development officer(s) to plan and execute fundraising events, including chair dedications, donor lunches, stewardship events, donor-sponsored lectures etc. Contact appropriate vendors to manage events: participate in creative work, arrange for small vendor contracts, pay invoices, and track expenses. Support the development officer in planning trustee campaign council, including logistical support, material preparation, entry of notes and data into Raiser's Edge and tracking attendance and outcomes. Provide necessary support for a development visit, including briefing, drafting and communication; calendar coordination; requesting research as needed; and helping prepare solicitation materials, including proposals. System Organization Manage calendars for Director(s) and team. Maintain filing systems as needed by Director(s). Develop system to manage workflow for the development officers: including recording trip reports and donor contacts in Raiser 's Edge. Develop systems to properly execute gift transmittals and file copies in communal and departmental files. Plan protocol and mechanism to generate systematic acknowledgement letters for major donors. Partner with Donor Relations Manager to plan and execute selected CNMC Donor recognition and stewardship events. Quality Control Read and evaluate donor correspondence for appropriate action. Evaluate donor letters for restrictive language. Evaluate data generated from Raiser's Edge for accuracy and then independently follow-through to correct errors. Clerical Activities Draft acknowledgement letters, stewardship reports and proposals as requested by the development officer. Draft briefings and presentations based on independently gathered information. Prepare mailings as needed, which may include informational, event invitations, various stewardship mailings.
