Job Description
The Literature Department at Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a guest instructor to teach a semester-long undergraduate lecture course in the area of medieval British literature, to begin September 2, 2024.
We welcome candidates with a specialization in Middle English poetry, such as the works of Chaucer, the poems of the Pearl-poet, and insular romances. The candidate should express a readiness to create a lecture course surveying or focusing on a particular theme of medieval literary culture in England, 1100-1500.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, two letters of reference, and a course proposal that would meet the job expectations.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Compensation listed for this position is on a per-course basis, contingent on teaching experience.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications: Ph.D. or advanced ABD in English literature or a related field; and experience teaching literature to undergraduates.
