Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated civil engineering student for a summer internship to be based in Orange, California.

This position is expected to begin in June 2024.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Assist project teams with hydraulic modeling using HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and analyses
Utilize GIS and AutoCAD for mapping and drafting tasks
Conduct data collection and research for water resources projects
Support engineers with report writing and documentation

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
Candidates must have completed 3 years of study in their program.
Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong academic background in fluid mechanics, hydrology, and hydraulics.
Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GIS, and AutoCAD software.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Available to work full-time during the summer months.
Experience with flow mechanics and hydrology hydraulics software like GIS AutoCAD HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS.
Previous internship experience in water resources or civil engineering.
Involvement in relevant student organizations, and strong technical writing abilities.
