Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, the primary function of the Associate Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations will be to support the Director in the identification, cultivation, and as appropriate, solicitation of philanthropic support from corporations and private foundations for the University of La Verne. The incumbent will be integral in researching new partnerships with corporations and foundations and stewarding existing relationships with partners/donors. The Associate Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations will be a mission-driven individual, eager to work with individual donors, corporations, and foundations to advance University priorities. He/she will take initiative and have the ability to work independently and collaboratively on tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
3-5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
3-5 years experience working with corporations and foundations in a development capacity.
3-5 years of experience with grant writing and the proposal process for private foundations.
3-5 years of experience with the online submission process for private foundation and corporate grant submissions.
3-5 years of demonstrated successful experience and effectiveness in prospect identification, relationship building, solicitation, and stewardship.
The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal and organizational skills; have strong attention to detail; be goal and results-oriented; self-motivated; and possess the ability to make independent decisions. He/she must be a collaborative and team-oriented individual; demonstrate sound judgment when dealing with a wide range of relationships and situations; possess the ability to maintain enthusiasm for hard work, changing priorities, and multiple deadlines; and have the ability to interact well with a diverse community of faculty, students, and constituents.

Specific Duties
The incumbent will support the Director in managing the grant application process for assigned corporate and private foundations. While the Director will serve as the primary writer, the Associate Director will provide support in writing/editing grants as needed. He/she will be responsible for maintaining the schedule of grant opportunities, including deadlines for submission, and reporting deadlines for grants awarded. This process includes preparing and collecting all required documentation for submission and reporting. The incumbent will research grant opportunities by utilizing on-line and software resources, publications, and grant-seeking user groups. Per the direction of the Corporate & Foundation Relations Director, attend external events to support the advancement of the university.

The Associate Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations will support the Director in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship responsibilities; identify, engage, and cultivate existing donors, corporations, and foundations. This includes maintaining updated donor contact information as well as solicitation and stewardship plans using University software platforms such as FPM and Banner.

Work alongside internal UA staff to manage and oversee the annual solicitation for support of new and existing CFR partners for campus events and programs, including the annual scholarship gala, golf tournament, and others as needed. This requires collaboration with annual giving, major gifts, special events, facilities, finance, and other departments across the University.

Collaborating with the Director of Donor Relations, the incumbent will manage a stewardship program for corporate and private foundations that will include deadlines for reports, thank-you letters, and other correspondence. He/she will provide support to the Director in arranging and managing campus visits and stewardship events for corporate and foundation representatives. Work with other departments on campus to ensure donor funds are distributed and utilized in accordance with donor intent.

Along with the Director, the Associate Director will provide support for grant seeking faculty, as needed. This includes meeting with faculty on the internal application process, matching their projects with potential grant opportunities, and occasionally helping edit faculty grant proposals for submission. In support of both faculty and staff, provide strategic counsel, execute, and manage quality control for stewardship of large, complex foundation grants and projects by reviewing conditions and terms of grants awards, completing grant outcomes and communicate grant fulfillment requirements to relevant faculty and staff, and continuously analyzing progress towards stated goals and expenditures to ensure grant compliance and completion within grant timeframe in collaboration with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
