Skilled Workforce Adaptable Team (SWAT) RN
Full Time - 72 hours Biweekly
11am - 11pm
In clinical settings, the registered professional SWAT nurse provides clinical support throughout the facility and cares for patients using the nursing process, independent judgment, and evidenced based practice to assess and treat responses to actual or potential health problems. Maintains clinical competency in Critical Care or equivalent and participates in continuing education related to health care issues and as outlined by appropriate regulatory and accrediting agencies. In collaboration with multidisciplinary team applies competent clinical knowledge and skills to achieve quality care outcomes. Adheres to ethical principles of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the ANA code of ethics for nurses. Demonstrates ongoing competency in practice through participation in professional organizations and committees. Coordinates care with other disciplines; delegates tasks to other nursing staff; supervises staff in their delivery of care and evaluation of results. Reports breaches in clinical or ethical standards to supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education - ASN required. BSN Preferred. Previously grandfathered active RN’s who graduated from an accredited nursing school as a Diploma RN will continue to have ASN requirement waived.
Experience - A minimum of 3 -5 years as an RN in an acute care setting required with at least 2 years in Critical Care or equivalent experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification - Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse license from that state that is designated as “Compact” or “Multi-State Privilege” using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN license from a compact state with a designation of “Single State” does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Professional certification in area of clinical specialty preferred. Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy. Current ACLS is required for entry into this position. PALS in compliance with policy required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Additional job requirements include Basic Dysrhythmia and Procedural Sedation competency within one year. Strong team work ethic while also able to work independently with minimal supervision or direction. Ability to work in stressful environments while maintaining a professional attitude in communication with staff, medical providers, and other members of the team. Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy. Basic computer skills required. Must process high level of organizational and communication skills. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality.
