Job Description
The US HIV Integrated Insights’ Senior Director for Commercial Analytics & Forecasting is responsible for delivering accurate and timely forecasts, tracking performance, providing actionable business analytics and insights to Gilead’s US HIV business unit, including HIV Treatment, HIV Prevention, and HIV Franchise and to the Managed Markets Sales and Marketing teams, driving analytics innovation and integrating insights across the patient, prescriber, and payer landscapes. Leading a team of ~8-9 professionals with 2-3 direct reports, the Senior Director of Integrated Insights will report to the Executive Director of HIV Integrated Insights and interact with senior and executive management in a highly visible role.
This role requires leveraging a broad and deep skill set (functional expertise, therapeutic area knowledge, communication skills, leadership and influencing, and executive presence, to name a few) to help drive the success of work across a variety of key stakeholders – including business unit, brand and managed markets, marketing leads, peer functional leads, Commercial Operations, Finance, and executive leadership.
Specific responsibilities include
Commercial Analytics: Lead development of data-based insights to inform brand, franchise, and business unit strategy and execution.
Collaborating with brand marketing leadership to establish an annual business analytics plan
Leveraging data and analytics to develop deep insights into what is driving business to inform brand strategy
Conducting secondary data analytics projects to inform various business issues, including HCP and patient segmentation, customer journey and treatment flow analytics, patient journey, managed markets analytics, etc.
Performance reporting and diagnostics, including design and implementation of HQ-facing dashboards and reports
Evaluating potential new secondary data sources and analytics methodologies to elevate the impact of business analytics continually
Develop Marketing Mix models, socialize results including the ‘Whats and the Whys,’ and recommend optimal tactic spend
Identify opportunities to integrate new capabilities from the AI/Predictive Analytics Lab
Forecasting: Lead development of the forecast, champion the communication of the same to the various stakeholders, and obtain buy-in
Lead and deliver Gilead’s quarterly Latest Estimate (LE) revenue forecasts for in-line and launch brands. Oversee, set agenda, and provide support and guidance to team in:
Designing, developing, and executing US forecasting models for marketed and launch products to inform critical short- to medium-term LE forecasts for the company that form the basis of near-term corporate revenue and earnings projections
Developing forecast scenario analyses including key risks and opportunities to clearly characterize forecast uncertainties and key drivers for executive leadership
National-level performance reporting and diagnostics, including reconciliation with forecasts
Tracking forecast accuracy and driving continuous improvements in forecast models and the forecasting process
Analyzing primary research data and secondary data sources (script data like IMS, epidemiology data, claims data, etc.) to glean insights and understand implications for our forecasts.
Partnering with Finance to lead key business processes in support of Operating Reviews and Budgeting processes
Regularly communicating with senior executives and strategic partners to report analytical findings and projections related to forecasting, inventory management, and key performance metrics/diagnostics
Collaborating within market research on key forecast inputs and with Sales Analytics and Operations (SAO) on field-force assumptions
Collaborating with internal partners - e.g., brand marketing leadership, Managed Markets, Competitive Intelligence, Long-Range Planning - to ensure all relevant insights and inputs are considered in the development of forecast inputs and scenarios
Leadership, Influence, and Communication:
Develop trust and be a strategic thought partner
Lead a team of professionals, maintaining an environment consistent with Gilead’s core values, fostering and actively supporting individual development, and recruiting new talent
Collaborate effectively with senior leaders across multiple functions and business units
Communicate complex dynamics/challenges clearly and concisely to senior leaders
Provide recommendations with objective and actionable insights to senior and executive management

Knowledge, skills, and experience:
Evidence of team and project leadership (interaction with cross-functional partners, conflict resolution, and consensus-driving) and project management (planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management, and plan execution) is required
Prior experience building a team, defining new roles, and driving successful implementation is highly desired
Strong communication/influencing skills, storytelling, executive presence, and the ability to connect the dots across business issues is required
Proven experience communicating complicated forecasts and analytics simply and clearly for senior management is required
Deep understanding of biotech/pharma market trends and best practices to enable forward-looking plans
Proven history of working and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously, with tight deadlines and changing priorities is required
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (specifically PowerPoint and Excel) to present quantitative data in graphical form is required
Passionate about the Insights and analytics
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience
OR
Masters' Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience
OR
PhD and Twelve Years’ Experience
The salary range for this position is: $255,425.00 - $330,550.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
