Assistant Director, Christian Workers Initiative - APU Center for Vocational Ministry (SOT)
APU is seeking employees who desire to engage in our thriving culture by cultivating community through professional interactions, demonstrating a posture of lifelong learning, and modeling Christ-like character. Working together, employees at APU commit to establishing a university atmosphere that is edifying to God and to one another.
The mission of the APU Center for Vocational Ministry is to cultivate resilience in ministry students and leaders through formational research, resources, and relationships. A key component of this mission involves identifying potential pastoral and ministry leadership partnerships and cultivating those relationships.
The Assistant Director for the Christian Workers Initiative will be part of the core leadership team of the CVM overall, and will work closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Mentoring and Formation in leading the Lilly-grant funded Thriving in Ministry and Compelling Preaching programs. The opportunities for pastors in this initiative, those we have already designed and those we will offer in the coming years, are designed to be comprehensive, encompassing all levels of the relational ecosystem of clergy. We have offered workshops for clergy at various stages of their career (e.g. emerging leaders, mid-career, etc.) as part of this program, and we intend to continue to integrate opportunities for clergy at various stages as we continue our programming through this initiative. We will continue to offer communities of practice that are research-based and will be systematically evaluated for efficacy. This program will also enable the advanced development of a robust coaching training as a key component, and requires clergy to participate in cohorts. Given APU’s identity, history, and location, we continue to offer special focus to women in ministry and pastors of color, and those serving in urban contexts. This is a grant funded position.
