Requirements

Lifeguard (part-time, temporary) at Yates Field House - Campus Recreation - Georgetown University

Lifeguards play an integral role in maintaining a safe aquatic environment for our students, faculty, staff and community members who use McCarthy Pool within Yates Field House. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Apply their knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures to prevent incidents and ensure safety
• Enforce all safety guidelines and remain alert throughout an entire shift. Prepare activity and incident reports
• Perform pool maintenance as needed
• Attend at least 2 in-service trainings

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Life Guards report directly to the Associate Director for Aquatics and Risk Management – and in the Associate Director’s absence, to the Aquatics Coordinator and the Recreation Center Supervisor.

This position’s work mode has been designated as On Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed to meet the evolving needs of the University. Such review may necessitate a change to a position’s mode of work designation. Requirements and Qualifications

• Current Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification - including include CPR Professional Rescuer and First Aid)
• Knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Self-motivation
