What you'll do...
Walmart’s CRM Engineering Team aims to build tools and technologies that will enable Marketers to send highly Personalized Marketing communication to our customers. This team is part of the Marketing Services Core organization. As part of this team, you will design, develop, and maintain highly scalable and reliable database architectures, data pipelines and ensure data quality and accuracy, which will drive the next generation of CRM Communications. You’ll independently handle high impact critical systems, troubleshoot business and production issues. Responsibilities:
- Data Transformation and Integration: Extracts data from identified databases and transform data to a structure that is relevant to the problem by selecting appropriate techniques.
- Data Source Identification: Helps identify the most suitable source for data that is fit for the requirements.
- Data Modeling: Analyses complex data elements, systems, data flows, dependencies, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models.
- Build and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines with internal and external partners.
- Help Marketing Engineering organization to become a 100% data driven organization by building systems that bring accurate and timely data to the Marketers.
- Perform deep analysis leveraging customer datasets to build customer insights.
- In partnership with Data Science team, deliver newer models to improve performance and profitability.
- Use the available tools of modern data science to analyze critical data.
- Raise the bar on sustainable engineering by improving best practices, producing best in class of code, documentation, testing and monitoring.
- Utilizes industry research to improve Wal-Mart's technology environment by analyzing industry best practices; bench marking industry against internal processes and solutions; researching or influencing future industry solutions for fit with internal needs; and defining software development guidelines, standards, and processes.
- Participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirement); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery.
- Creates training documentation and trains end-users on data modeling. Oversees the tasks of less experienced programmers and stipulates system troubleshooting supports.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 5-7 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role in data management
- Or, master’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 3-5 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role in data management.
- Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, PySpark, Kafka, Hive, NoSql Dbs etc.?
- Proficiency in languages such as Python, Java.
- Experience with the workflow management platform like Airflow.
- Experience with Cloud computing platforms like Azure and GCP
- Experience with data modeling & data migration protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.?
- Strong project management and organizational skills.?
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Even Better if You Have:
- Strong knowledge of Machine Learning models and principles
- Worked extensively with Kafka or other high volume-low latency messaging infrastructure and built real time and batch data driven applications.
- Designed, built, and maintained APIs, services of highly scalable platforms.
- Extensive knowledge of open-source libraries, design patterns and micro-service architecture. Familiarity with CI/CD and unit testing
- Experience in production system operations (logging, telemetry, alerting etc.)
- The keen eyes for detail and desire to learn, win, collaborate, and relish a challenge.
- Increase the efficiency of the team by setting right Processes of Software Development, Requirement Intake, Effort Estimation
- Demonstrating creative, critical thinking & troubleshooting skills.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00
