SUMMARY:
The Benefits Manager is responsible for the strategy, research, design, communication, and overall management of the company’s benefits and wellness programs, including 401K, healthcare, life, workers’ compensation, leave and disability. This role involves recommending new or enhancing existing programs based on the company’s objectives, philosophies, and best practices. The Manager ensures the competitiveness of the company’s benefits programs and systems through strategic monitoring of business conditions, legal requirements, economic conditions, and competitive practices within a business environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Oversee and administer employee benefits and wellness programs.
· Survey industry and community trends to determine the company’s competitive position.
· Develop, recommend, and implement new or modified plans and employee benefit policies.
· Implement cost controls to maximize coverage cost-effectively.
· Supervise a team managing employee benefit programs such as major medical plans, term life insurance plans, temporary disability plans, accidental death policies, workers’ compensation, and leave of absence.
· Evaluate and compare company benefits with industry standards.
· Prepare and execute benefit documentation, including original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements, and insurance policies, with legal consultation.
· Instruct insurance carriers and other external agencies on benefit program changes.
· Ensures company compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other regulations.
· Develop benefit information, statistical and census data for stakeholders.
· Handle benefit inquiries and complaints promptly and fairly.
· Direct the administration of retirement benefit plans.
· Analyze plan investment choices, provisions, and market competitiveness.
· Ensure compliance with IRS, ERISA, DOL, and other federal and state agencies.
· Ensure appropriate semi-annual and annual non-discrimination testing takes place.
· Evaluate and recommend changes to services, coverage, and options available through plan administrators and brokers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum 5 years of experience in HR Benefits.
· Experience in a multi-state role.
· Advanced knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, PDL, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, 401K, and related state and federal regulations.
· Experience with HMO and PPO health plans.
· Strong research, negotiation, communication, and team management skills.
· Knowledge of ADP Vantage is a plus.
· Excellent organizational skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· PHR, SHRM-CP, and/or CEBS preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
· Strong communication, analytical, and independent thinking skills.
· Ability to influence and lead effectively.
· Highly organized with a strong value system and integrity.
· Proactive approach and readiness to make difficult decisions.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

What to Expect?
Salary Rate: $90k-$100k: Offer placement within this range is dependent on a variety of factors, including prior relevant experience, qualifications, and skill set.
Based out of HQ in Irvine, CA with a minimum of 4 days in office.
