Job Abstract

The Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program at the University of Mount Union invites applications for an adjunct professor in its graduate program to teach Pharmacology I in the fall 2024 semester and Pharmacology II in the spring 2025 semester.

Availability to teach two days a week for 2 hours each day (for example, 8:00 am to 10:00 am every T/Th or similar 4 hour per week schedule).

Pharmacology I meets in the fall semester from late August to mid-December as a 15-week course of instruction with a final exam in the 16th week. It is a graduate level 4-credit hour course meeting twice a week for 2 hours each time. The following is the course description:

PA-515 Pharmacology I (4 Credits):
Preparation for appropriate administration/prescription of medicines is accomplished through a study of drug classifications, pharmacodynamic actions, and rationale for therapeutic use of prescription and non-prescription medications.

Pharmacology II meets in the spring semester from early January to early May as a 15-week course of instruction with a final exam in the 16th week. It is a graduate level 4-credit hour course meeting twice a week for 2 hours each time. The following is the course description:

PA-516 Pharmacology II (4 Credits):
Continuation of a two-part course. Preparation for appropriate administration/prescription of medicines is accomplished through a study of drug classifications, pharmacodynamic actions, and rationale for therapeutic use of prescription and non-prescription medications.

Adjunct faculty will work under the direction of the Program Director of the PA Program.

Responsibilities include:

Provide instruction in accordance with University and PA Program defined policies.

Maintain office hours and communicate with students on an ongoing basis.

Maintain accurate electronic records as per University and Program requirements.

Submit all records/grades as required.

Keep current in the discipline/area of teaching.

Participate in training and technologies as necessary to facilitate course delivery.

Complete assigned University compliance training as communicated by the University.

The ideal candidate will have a PharmD or Ph.D. in Pharmacology or a related field with experience teaching at the graduate medical level. Experience using a learning management system (for example, D2L Brightspace or similar product) is preferred.
