Requirements / Qualifications
This position requires the candidate to have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education OR the ability to demonstrate, through a formal local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or readiness in those subjects, as appropriate). Testing TBD.
You will be working with Special Education students with mental and physical disabilities to attain vocational goals and objectives according to Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). This includes assisting students in developing various socially acceptable life skills, including hygiene, eating, social, community, vocational, and leisure/recreational skills. Candidates must have the physical and mental capacity to deal effectively with this group.
Qualifications: Candidate must be a high school graduate and have knowledge of principles and practices relating to Special Education, subjects taught in District schools, and principles and techniques of providing instructional assistance in a variety of subject areas. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary, as well as good oral and written communication skills are essential.
