About the role:
We are seeking an exceptional Research Associate II to join the Molecular Biology group at 10x Genomics. This is a unique multi-disciplinary position that will work closely with a variety of groups including Chemistry, Cell Biology, Computational Biology, Microfluidics, and Support groups. You will play an important role in expanding the 10x single cell product portfolio by identifying clever solutions to troubleshoot and optimize 10x product workflows. You will develop innovative molecular biology protocols for solving complex problems. You should be driven by making great products and enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative and truly multi-disciplinary environment.
The ideal candidate should have experience working independently in a chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology laboratory, have exceptional attention to detail, and be able to critically analyze data and communicate results to the team. They must bring a can-do attitude and sense of purpose to the job.
What you will be doing:
- Working within multidisciplinary teams at all stages of product development
- Developing a deep understanding of the interplay between chemistry, molecular biology, and microfluidics and investigating the root cause of product deviations, troubleshooting them, and identifying clever solutions
- Planning and execution of experiments, accurate recording of details, in-depth analysis, and reporting of these results through documentation and presentations
- Supporting the method development and optimization of novel molecular biology assay schemes for single cell applications including molecular barcoding, nucleic acid amplification, and NGS library preparation
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- BS/MS in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering, or related field
- 2-5 years relevant laboratory experience in life science applications, such as: next-generation sequencing library preparation, cell culture, or other cell, nucleic acid, or protein-based technologies
- Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques such as sample preparation, nucleic
acid amplification and purification (RNA/DNA), qPCR - Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets and communicate results in a clear and concise manner
- Experience troubleshooting and optimizing molecular biology assays
Additional desirable skills to have:
- Familiarity with formal product testing (e.g., verification and validation) highly desired
- Experience with new product introduction or product development process and life cycle
- Deep experience with multichannel pipetting
- Experience with DNA-binding magnetic beads
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge of NGS and related applications (e.g. RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, etc.)
- Experience with statistical design, modeling and use of design of experiment (DOE) approaches
Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
