We are looking to hire for the position of Systems Engineer at the Canonsburg, PA location. This position is subject to travel up to 40%. The ideal candidate will participate in the development, testing, documentation and start-up of the process control system. Usually works on projects of moderate scope and complexity as part of a larger project but can work as the only Systems Engineer on a small project. Develops new programs, as well as enhancements, modifications and upgrades to existing software, for a specific contract. Specific work assignments are made and scheduled by a more experienced systems engineer or project leader, although assists in the development of assignments and schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the development of the project schedule and assignment of project tasks.
- Assists with the development of project design specifications and system configuration.
- Designs, codes and tests software for assigned portion of the project.
- Provides appropriate source code documentation to meet company or customer requirements.
- Interacts with client engineers to answer technical questions and review relative portion of design documents.
- Initiates the development of engineering requisitions and assists the senior engineer with the review of the vendor proposals, including interaction with the vendor.
- Participates in project start-up to verify, debug and tune software developed.
- Participates in conducting training classes for the client related to assigned scope of work.
- Interfaces with other company divisions and/or E&C company to support project work.
- Abides by Primetals Technologies USA LLC engineering and standard operating procedures.
- Supports the overall business and marketing objectives of Primetals Technologies.
Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Operator’s interface programming
- C++, C#, Java, and/or Visual Basic programming in a Windows environment
- Database programming (Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server)
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization and facilitate the implementation of corrective action and best-practice sharing
