I. JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services and/or Clinical Nurse Manager, the Central Supply Instrument Technician cares for instruments and supplies by cleaning, organizing and wrapping them in approved manner conducive to sterilization and disinfection techniques.

Performs instrument processing (decontaminate, process, sterilize and maintain) according to hospital policy and procedure.
Maintains instruments in clean working order, lubricating and recommending repairs as necessary. Reports any necessary replacements to supervisor.
Performs any other duties or responsibilities which may be assigned.
Has working knowledge of steam and gas autoclaves and is aware of potential hazards.
Maintains par levels of specified sterile supplies in the surgical suite and replaces sterile instrument trays to designated shelves daily or as
necessary.

ANNUAL REQUIREMENTS - Completes annual requirements (PPD, health requirements, Annual Update, Ethics training, licensure and/or professional certification) on time.
IV. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE MANDATORY:
1. Knowledge of instruments and their care.
2.Knowledge of approved sterilization packaging requirements.
PREFERRED:
1.Central Supply Technician Certification
2. High School diploma or equivalent
V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Able to withstand long hours of standing, walking, bending and stooping.
2. Able to lift heavy instrument trays. 3. Good eye-hand coordination and the visual acuity to perform necessary duties.
