DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this accounting position, you will serve as a vital contact for our agencies as you provide strong support to the unit through analyses, control, and professional guidance in the areas of government financial and budgetary accounting. Work includes identifying areas of improvement, applying best practices, assisting the Manager and other accounting staff as needed with various projects and initiatives, developing critical communication, and aligning unit service efforts that focus on relation to changing government priorities and interests. You will be responsible for completing professional accounting work through critical analyses, journalizing, reconciliation, interpretation, recommendations, and conclusions affecting financial or fiscal transactions and reporting. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with staff while providing professional guidance and monitoring of day-to-day accounting activity for assigned agencies. Key duties include:
Establishing and maintaining proper account code structure
Performing periodic reconciliations for assigned business areas to ensure accuracy of financial data across systems
Reviewing, analyzing, and approving necessary accounting adjustments
Ensuring that all draw down related activities comply with applicable law, regulation and grant requirements
Preparing quarterly and final Federal Financial Reports
Preparing and analyzing various GAAP packages for inclusion in Commonwealth's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
Assisting with reviewing the Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards (SEFA) for their specific grants to determine if adjustments are required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. Please keep in mind that while this is a full-time telework position, that can change at any time at the Governor's discretion. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,836 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years as an Accounting Assistant (commonwealth title) and completion of 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
Two years as a Fiscal Technician (commonwealth title) and completion of 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
A bachelor’s degree including 21 credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
