About Harris County Flood Control District:
The Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County, the third most populated county in the United States, with a population in excess of 4.7 million, including the City of Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city. The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county, which consist of approximately 1,500 channels totaling nearly 2,500 miles in length, as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins, totaling more than 10,000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks including Greens bayou.
What you will do at Harris County Flood Control District:
The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Right of Way Coordinator.
The Right of Way Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the coordination of the acquisition of property for the District’s property acquisition program including, floodplain preservation, capital improvements and maintenance projects.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Assist in right-of-way projects from inception to closeout for the floodplain preservation program.
Provide support for project charters and initiations, project budgets, and scopes and schedules.
Support project managers and team by providing support for property acquisition needed for capital improvement and maintenance projects.
Coordinate with the County's Real Property Division and the Attorney’s Office on the acquisition of property for various flood reduction projects and projects in the eminent domain process.
Assist property managers and outside agencies/companies concerning project acquisition requirements.
Communicate with property owners and agents interested in selling or donating property to the District via the floodplain preservation program.
Assist in the preparation of initial property evaluation requests for review.
Monitor property acquisition budgets to ensure adequate funding.
Request and monitor the demolition of developments on properties.
Handle correspondence such as public necessity court letter review, reports, agendas, etc. and update various internal reports applying department policies and procedures in determining completeness.
Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Experience:
One (1) year directly related work experience in real estate or a related field
Licensure:
Valid Class "C" Texas Driver’s License
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and/or assignments.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with software applications such as SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat Professional, ArcMap and GIS products.
Working knowledge of appraisals, deeds, property surveys, environmental reviews, and related property acquisition documents.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field from an accredited college or university (preferred)
