Job Summary
The Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiovascular Services oversees the technical and administrative operations of all services provided in department of Diagnostic Imaging & Cardiac Catherization lab, ensuring the highest quality service and appropriate use of resources. In addition, the incumbent manages the equipment needs and supplies, the operating and capital budget, develops strategic business plans, and creates a state of survey readiness while fostering an environment of engagement and professional development.
Essential Functions
Plans, directs and coordinates the day to day activities of all technical and clerical services in the Imaging Department, including inpatient and outpatient X-ray, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology, Outpatient Mammography, and the addition of a Cath lab.
Coordinates departmental operation with other hospital departments (Hemodialysis, Nursing, ED) and medical staff to assure continuity of patient care.
Partners with Hospital Business Development leadership in the evaluation and identification of new revenue generating business ventures and participates in the preparation of business plans for new service line (Cardiac Cath lab).
Understand, support integration and implementation of new practice management workflows to enhance operational efficiencies.
Supports the Medical Director in continually assessing data for the performance of existing practices.
In conjunction with the Medical Director, develop, maintain and implement department operating technical procedure, protocols and policies.
Assures we are compliant to all hospital wide policies and accrediting agencies protocols and guidelines.
Meets regularly with Medical Physicist to ensure that all procedures are performed in accordance with appropriate licensure and optimal degree of quality and safety.
Responsible to develop, implement, and continuously improve tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to VP of Operations and Radiology group leadership and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations in support of the financial and operational results.
Manages and prepares capital budget by providing operational documentation and justification for equipment purchases/leases.
Oversee billing operations and ensures that records are up to date and accurate.
Prepares and presents the departmental performance improvement initiatives to the Performance Improvement Committee.
Lead patient experience initiatives; implement and achieve strategies towards metric driven patient satisfaction goals.
Mentors and develops a team of direct reports, hiring, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation and building effective team dynamics.
Manages employee time, attendance, payroll. In addition, to cardiologists on-call schedules, medical directorships, and compliance of physician performance as set forth in their contracts.
Ensures effective communication within the department and throughout the hospital.
Participates in Hospital committees as required.
Maintains department in survey-mode readiness.
Manages the retention of patient testing records and logs in conjunction with the New Jersey Health Care Facilities Record Retention Schedule.

Minimum Education/Certifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or Business Administration, Master’s degree preferred
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies (ARRT) or one of the preferred certifications below.
Knowledge of principles of High-tech Imaging: Nuclear Medicine, CT scan, MRI, in addition to Radiologic Technology and Cardiac Cath.
Preferred Certifications:
NJ Registered Radiological Technologist License.
Graduate of a 2 year CAHEP accredited certificate program
Registry in diagnostic cardiac sonography (RDCS)
Vascular ultrasound (RVT)
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
Cardiac science Credentialing Institution (CCI)
Gradate of a 2 year A.M.A. approved Certificate program
Minimum Work Experience
At least 5 years of experience in related areas of Hospital Operations and Diagnostic Services.
Ability to delegate and empower staff and build strong employee morale.
Ability to interpret, implement, and enforce complex regulations, contracts, and policies.
Strong planning, financial, and analytical skills to effectively evaluate and lead projects of major impact to the organization.
Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
Computer literacy is required.
