Position Summary
Performs courier functions including but not limited to collection, pickup, and delivery of secure and sensitive mail, papers, documents, and packages. Picks up and delivers supplies requiring light to heavy physical effort. Operates various SA vehicles in accomplishing position responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions
Performs courier service from the SA mailroom to the post office and from the Authority’s satellite locations, including Marblestone, Spittle, Mooney, and the Prince William County Building.
Processes outgoing U.S. Mail. Secures postage meter after each use and advises Supervisor of postage balance. Add funds to the postage meter as directed by the Supervisor.
Prepares and tracks outgoing shipments via UPS or freight companies following rules established by UPS or the Department of Transportation.
Performs daily preventive maintenance checks of assigned vehicles and makes arrangements for periodic servicing; informs Supervisor or Fleet Maintenance of any vehicle warning lights.
Picks up and delivers various supplies to and from SA departments. Complies with applicable safety rules and regulations.
Performs other related duties and assignments at the discretion of the Warehouse Supervisor.
Performs logistical support duties for all special events and training programs for the SA. These duties include food pickup and delivery, room set up, transportation of staff to the event, and other setup duties.
Communicates with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure efficient delivery.
Operates a forklift and other material-handling equipment.
May be deemed essential at any time.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Essential Skills and Experience

Skills and knowledge to operate vehicles over various roads under changing weather conditions.
High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of modern storeroom and inventory practices; all materials and parts required for the municipal operation to which was assigned; applicable standard grades and qualities of equipment, materials, parts, and supplies.
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver`s license consistent with Service Authority policy requirements.
Valid Forklift Operators Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of appointment.
