The Position
The Agile Marketing Excellence lead is crucial in spearheading the development and embedding agile ways of working & methodologies across the Commercial Strategy & Marketing (CS&M) organization. The Agile Marketing Excellence lead will be a dedicated advocate for Agile principles and methodologies, with a proven ability to drive collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within marketing teams. This role will play a critical part in promoting Agile excellence, enhancing marketing agility, and fostering a culture of innovation. This role will be accountable for setting up and guiding multiple agile teams across the CS&M organization.
Relationships
Reports to Commercial Excellence & Innovation Lead. Collaborates with CS&M leadership, Agile coaches, and other stakeholders to align on agile business goals, priorities, and strategic objectives. The Agile Guild Lead has a team of agile coaches and agile scrum masters.
Essential Functions
- Agile Transformation Leadership: Lead Novo Nordisk’s agile transformation efforts by defining agile principles, practices, and frameworks tailored to the specific needs of the organization. Develop and implement strategies to drive agile adoption and maturity across CS&M teams and departments
- Agile Work Composition Coaching: Provide leadership and team-level coaching for roadmap and backlog management, prioritization, and work decomposition. Leverages continuous improvement process to provide guidance for evolving Agile model and approach
- Community Leadership: Lead the Agile Community of Practice, serving as a champion for Agile principles, values, and practices across the organization
- Community Engagement and Knowledge Sharing: Actively engage with Agile practitioners, enthusiasts, and stakeholders to foster a vibrant and inclusive Agile community. Organize regular forums, events, meetups, and knowledge sharing sessions to promote collaboration, networking, and the exchange of best practices among agile teams
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and coaching sessions to build Agile capability and skills across teams and departments
- Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with CS&M leadership, Agile coaches, and other stakeholders to align Agile initiatives with business goals, priorities, and strategic objectives
- Change Management and Stakeholder Engagement: Champion agile principles and practices across the organization and promote buy-in and support from stakeholders at all levels. Partner with senior leadership, functional leads, and cross-functional teams to drive cultural change and overcome resistance to agile adoption
- Scalability and Enterprise Agility: Collaborate with enterprise agile coaches and leaders to ensure alignment of agile practices and initiatives with broader organizational goals and objectives. Develop strategies to scale agile practices across the enterprise and drive alignment and consistency in agile implementation
- Agile Coaching and Training: Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to Agile teams, Scrum Masters, CS&M leadership, and other stakeholders to enhance their understanding and application of Agile methodologies
- Metrics and Reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of Agile practices within the organization. Generate reports and insights to track progress and identify areas for improvement
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in agile Drive initiatives to continuously improve Agile practices, processes, and tools within CS&M. Gather feedback, analyze metrics, and identify opportunities for enhancement
- People Development and Coaching: Responsible for setting and communicating clear individualized role expectations for each report based on position, skills, talents, and objectives. Ensure that reporting personnel have strengths-based individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business. Provide regular coaching of reports that prioritizes appropriate challenging, development, feedback, regular recognition, and support
- Customer Focus: Keep a strong focus on customer feedback and behavior to guide marketing and ensure that campaigns are effectively addressing user needs and market trends
Physical Requirements
Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.
Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communication, Engineering, Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience) required
- Proven experience in Agile methodologies, with a minimum of 12+ years of experience in Agile coaching, Scrum Master, agile transformation, or related roles within marketing or digital marketing
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate marketing teams to embrace Agile principles and practices
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the marketing organization
- Certification & proven expertise in Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, SAFe Agilist) required
- Experience in organizing and facilitating workshops, training sessions, and community events within a marketing context
- Deep understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Lean) and Agile scaling frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS), with a focus on their application in marketing
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive change within marketing processes and workflows
- Passion for continuous learning and professional development, with a commitment to staying updated on industry trends and best practices in Agile marketing
- Experience with Agile collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Trello) and marketing automation platforms is a plus
- Experience building and fostering communities of practice, organizing events, and facilitating knowledge sharing sessions
- Proven track record of driving successful agile transformations, improving team performance, and delivering business results in a complex and dynamic environment
- Embodies leadership behaviors, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, and driving focus and simplicity
- People management experience required, with a proven track record of development and coaching
