The Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office is seeking a highly qualified applicant to fill a vacant Administrative Aide 1/2, grade G-13/15 in the District Court Administrative Support Unit.
About this Position:
This position is a dually allocated support position that will provide entry-level administrative and legal support and assistance to the District Court Administrative Support Unit. The incumbent will perform routine to moderately difficult office responsibilities under the close supervision of the Unit Chief. Responsibility includes conveying important administrative information concerning the function and mission of the agencies' programs and projects. Work performance is evaluated in terms of accuracy and timely completion of projects and assignments.
Examples of Work
What You'll Do:
Handles and coordinates a variety of complex administrative functions and activities within the assigned unit.
Prepares legal documents pertaining to the preparation of criminal trial cases.
Reviews charging documents to determine and gather official records, reports, and other documents needed as evidence in court proceedings.
Reviews case reports and records to identify all potential State witnesses and notify the court via judicial database, so that summonses can be issued timely for the court.
Operates personal computer to request/retrieve discovery and access NCIC/Meters, JPortal, MDEC, RMS, UDE, and Judicial Dialog.
Provides authorized case information accurately.
Performs tasks and duties assigned that may not be listed explicitly in the position description, but are within the general, occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the incumbent's work class.
Qualifications
What You'll Need:
High School diploma or G.E.D., with coursework in typing, office practices, or other related clerical subjects; plus
One (1) year of diverse/technical clerical and administrative experience using standard secretarial practices and procedures, systems, and equipment, which includes: knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Teams, etc., experience composing and preparing routine correspondence, experience performing basic mathematical skills, experience establishing and maintaining office files; and
At least six (6) months of experience involving public contact.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Comprehensive knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Ability to create and edit various memoranda and business communications.
Ability to maintain a professional image with face-to-face contact with division staff, County Government Officials, vendors, and the public.
Ability to exercise a professional approach and deportment on telephone communications, including routing calls, written correspondence, email, etc., are required.
Ability to take the initiative, use good judgment, exercises independent decision-making, and provide excellent customer service.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon selection, the candidate must:
Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties as needed.
Participate as an "Essential" employee in the department's program and other emergency or special activities as needed.

Applicants who meet minimum qualifications must pass an administered Administrative Aide exam. Applicants who have previously taken the exam on or after 2/1/2023, and passed, will not be required to re-test; instead, previously test scores will be used to receive the passing disposition
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligible candidates, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
