The Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Master HVAC Technician, grade G24, in the Facilities Operation and Management Division.
About the Position
This is supervisory, administrative and technical work in the installation/maintenance/repair of a variety of heating, cooling and ventilating systems used within County buildings, including the Correctional Center. The incumbent exercises considerable independent judgement and class is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and reviewing the work of professionals, supervisors, skilled tradespersons, semi-skilled, and unskilled engaged in a variety of tasks involving maintenance operations.
About the Agency
The Office of Central Services administers centralized support services for the County Government, including facilities operation and management, contract administration and procurement, fleet management, real estate, construction, administrative services and small, local and the minority business development.
Examples of Work
Plans, supervises and evaluates the performance of skilled HVAC trades persons in the repair, maintenance, renovation, and preventive maintenance of various County buildings at the license Master level.
Plans and supervises the performance of vendors contracted to perform services in and around various County owned and leased facilities.
Reveiws and completes all documents associated with performance of vendors.
Communicates with building occupants to promote a cooperative maintenance program.
Plans, estimates, inspects and renders reports on in-house renovations, new installations and maintenance.
Responsible for pre-bid walk-throughs, as well as on-sight inspections of any contracted HVAC assignments.
Observes all administrative rules and regulations, safety rules and measures, and complies with security regulations at all times.
Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED or the completion of an apprentice-level Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) vocational training program.
Licensed as a Master HVACR and one (1) year of experience leading the work of technicians providing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration services.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Building Automation Systems, Johnson Controls - Metasys Software, and/or Siemens.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with six (6) points or less.
Possession of a valid Master HVAC license issued by the Maryland Board of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR).
Possession of a valid chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerant certificate in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Must be willing to respond to emergency service calls on a 24-hour basis, follow-up and control of emergency events.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
