Examples of Duties
Job Purpose Under general supervision, provides routine office support, such as sorting and distributing mail, answering phones, and directing visitors.
Essential Job Duties
Receives and directs incoming telephone calls.
Answers inquiries and provides routine information to the public.
Receives and directs visitors, and may serve as receptionist.
Receives, sorts, and delivers intra- and inter-office communications, packages, and other materials.
Manages inventory and supplies.
Performs routine filing of documents according to established office procedures.
Uses automated office systems, such as a computer, to prepare a variety correspondence from draft or specific instructions.
Manages and updates office spreadsheets.
Operates office machinery, such as photocopiers, calculators, telephones, scanners, and printers.
Examples of Other Duties Receives and issues office supplies. Performs occasional light typing or word processing. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
Conditions of Employment
Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees’ Retirement System, with very limited exceptions
Physical and Environmental Conditions The work among positions in this class varies, but most often involves frequent walking and standing, some lifting and carrying of objects of moderate weight.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
