Job Abstract

Position Summary

This individual will be responsible for ensuring the effective event operations of the safety and security department at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. The Security Event Manager will ensure and administer approved company security programs and safety check lists for all events. Will work closely with event management to ensure ease of load-ins and load-outs commanding exceptional customer service and presence on the loading dock, and in the facility with clients and contractors. Recommends protection and safety measures as needed. Shall oversee all event security.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities as directed by the Security Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Ensuring event security officers are complying with departmental and company policies and procedures. 
• Ensures the safety and security of the building and its attendants, employees, contractors and visitors during events.
• Coordinates, monitors and enforces fire and safety requirements of the Facility with employees, clients, visitors and service providers.
• Participates in the safety committee as well as the development, implementation and training of staff on various safety programs as well as OSHA and ADA compliance.
• Schedules and monitors event security personnel and coordinates event needs with the Event’s department.    
• Participates in pre-planning meetings with clients and creates event specific security plans
• Creates event specific dock plans for incoming events.
• Produces monthly parking calendar for internal staff.
• Acts as primary point of contact for Cleveland Police Department, Cleveland Fire Department as it relates to event needs.
• Performs routine threat assessments throughout the Facility both inside and out.   
• Investigates and reports accidents and incidents.
• Responds to emergency situations.    
• Approves event security invoices and ensures proper numbers are entered into CRM during event settlement.
• Monitors event guard activities at assigned posts.

• Monitors event guards to evaluate overtime and attendance issues.
• Coaching and training new event security on post assignments and general security expectations.
• Operates video surveillance, life safety and access control systems effectively.
• Hires, trains, schedules, supervises building’s Guest Services team. Responsibilities could also include performing bi-weekly payroll for these team members.
• Fosters and develops team environment.
• Back-up to Security Facility Manager role.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
   

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

• Two years’ experience managing and/or supervising in the field of Safety and Security.
• Bachelors of Science or Associates degree preferred.
• Possesses strong interpersonal and customer service skills. 
• Effectively work independently and within team settings with all levels of staff. 
• Analyze situations, detect problems and take appropriate actions.
• Respond to emergencies and stressful situations calmly, quickly and decisively
• Manage others effectively.
• Establish effective working relationships with clients, event managers, employees and the public.
• Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills including recordkeeping.
• Efficient with computer skills including Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, Outlook Scheduling
   

Working Conditions

• Meet the physical demands of this job, which includes personal mobility to all areas of the Facility, climbing steps, standing and sitting for long lengths of time, inclement weather and moderate to loud noises. 
• Work long flexible hours including weekends, nights and holidays with substantial walking and sitting in both indoor and outdoor inclement settings.
