Ingredion is looking to hire a Rheologist to conduct research and development efforts for new and existing products. As part of the Analytical Characterization & Texture Science (ACTS) group, the Rheologist will use expertise in rheological characterization to conduct laboratory activities and data analysis that aid in defining products, understanding structure-function relationships and enable effective product, process, and formulation development.
Core Responsibilities:
Work with manager and the ACTS team towards the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy around rheological characterization that articulates Ingredion’s Food Texture Science capabilities & value for our customer.
Develop and implement new rheological testing methodologies as required to enable Product Development and Manufacturing.
Keeping up to date on advances in measurement systems through open sources
Writing reports and effectively communicating results to project teams and stakeholders.
Development of industry relationships and networks within professional organizations
Work with external vendors and innovation partners to identify new technologies and partnerships.
Elevate capabilities of our ACTS Texture Solution function. Identify capability gaps and future needs and collaborate towards a plan to meet current and future needs.
Promote strong collaboration with teams within and outside Analytical Characterization & Texture Science function to establish Ingredion as an externally recognized thought leader
Qualified candidate will have:
PhD in rheology related fields (e.g. Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent) with 0 to 2+ years of relevant experience. Master's Degree with 3-5+ years relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 10+ years relevant experience also considered.
Specific technical knowledge & proficiency around rheological characterization methods and instrumentation, preferably on food/cosmetics or adjacent applications.
Demonstrated proficiency in design of experiments, data interpretation and analyses to offer non-obvious insights.
Working knowledge of statistics and related analytical tools
Strong computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office and related software.

Excellent planning and organizational skills, allowing the candidate to shift priorities appropriately and help others to operate with flexibility.
High degree of energy, self-motivation, personal commitment, and ownership
Ability to interact constructively with colleagues from a wide variety of roles within the company and learn continuously and stay up to date with current science trends.
