Senior Scientist Q&FS Agile Innovation and DS2

The Senior Scientist Q&FS Agile Innovation role is responsible for ensuring all The Garage initiatives meet the required Quality & Food Safety Standards.  For all The Garage projects this role supports qualification, product start up, performance management, and quality improvement initiatives at external manufacturing locations. This role will also liaise with the site R&D teams where internal supply chain will be used to deliver The Garage projects.  The incumbent will use food science, quality management, project management and cost of quality skills to identify opportunities to improve consumer satisfaction, optimize processes and establish measures of quality conformance.  This role will also be a liaison for the DS2 community into the NA region.

Education & Professional Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

• BS degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related technical field required

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced MS degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related technical field

Knowledge / Experience

• 7 + years of experience in a technical area such as Quality & Food Safety, R&D product development, laboratory management quality systems, or food process engineering

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team

• Experienced auditor with accreditation in GFSI Quality systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, ISO9000

• Ability to travel ~20% of the time

Preferred

• ASQ certification

• Advanced understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), HACCP, Sensory, Microbiology, Regulatory and Food Law guidelines

• This role has the responsibility to codify the business process The Garage will follow with respect to the R&D elements of the QMP.  This includes ensuring compliance to all relevant standards.

• Leads Quality efforts in manufacturing site selection by assessing quality capability and food safety systems performance.  Coordinates with the Supply Chain representatives within The Garage to resolve site selection and audit concerns. 

• Liaison to the onsite R&D teams. When internal solutions to the opportunities are found this role will be responsible for ensuring the local R&D team understands the project and the needs to ensure speed.

• Maintains a connection to the core business QFS teams (especially the EM team) to ensure The Garage is up to date on compliance requirements.

• Leads with consumer obsessed Q&FS by monitoring consumer and customer complaints for The Garage projects and driving improvement plans.

• Responsible for supporting The Garage with developing new routes to market and ensuring compliance to QMP and standards, for example Consignment ordering, Amazon fulfillment, any merchandise that is used in Garage propositions.

• Leads The Garage R&D business through LRQA audits, including prepping with team and then driving corrective actions as assigned. Partners with the Activity Management team on overall LRQA audit.

• Is the primary connection to the DS2 business teams, ensures clarity on DS2 projects and timelines, brings this to the Innovation Office quarterly to ensure awareness and feedback.
