Starting Salary: $95,000-149,000 base pay DOE + Competitive Bonus Structure

Qualifications/Requirements:
While Sunstate operations are traditionally uniform throughout the county, there may be other skillsets that are required in a specific region. The following is a list of required qualifications and the desired skills that will be needed within 6 months to successfully perform in this position.
Required
- Knowledge of and proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT)
- Strong communication skills including, training, conflict resolution, diplomacy, interpersonal skills
- Experience in handling confidential matters and professional discretion
- Experience in group training and leading safety meetings
- Familiarity with the concept of Best Safety Practices
- Completion of the OSHA 1926 and/or OSHA 1910 30-hour training
- Evidence of being a self-starter and taking initiative
- Does not require immediate and direct supervision
- Able to travel
- Strong organizational skills
- Previous experience in a specific safety role is preferred
- Knowledge of construction equipment is preferred
- Must be able to communicate (both verbal and written) in English.
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent GED
- Be able to frequently lift 25 lbs., occasionally lift 50 lbs., and seldom lift 90 lbs
- Possession and maintenance of a good driving record and unrestricted driver's license
What you will doing..
Loss Prevention Services
- Ensures that an effective Regional Loss Prevention Program is in place.
- Directs loss prevention services within the Region with the assistance of Sunstate’s Safety Manager, the Sunstate Safety & Risk Team, and Sunstate’s outside loss control consultants as needed.
Safety Committee Participation
- Supports the Regional Operations Director as Co-Chair of the Regional Safety Committee and ensures that relevant safety issues are identified, addressed, and resolved efficiently.
- Serves as the region’s representative to Sunstate’s Safety Committee.
Regulatory Compliance
- Assists and advises Region and Branch Operation Management and other safety personnel in matters pertaining to safety, health, and environmental compliance. This includes:
- Ensuring that Region policies and procedures address regulatory compliance requirements as covered by regulatory agency standards and Sunstate’s safety policies
- Communicating regulatory compliance requirements and performance to Region and Branch Management and safety personnel
- Reviewing vendor products and services to ensure compliance with regulatory directives
- Evaluating the effect of safety, health, and environmental issues pertaining to the branch and to Sunstate employees’ safety
- Providing support to Sunstate’s Safety & Risk team on matters related to regulatory activity including OSHA requests, and acute incident response.
Inspections and Audits
- Conducts periodic branch facility inspections to identify any hazards and safe working conditions.
- Develops and implements the regional safety performance audit program. Audit results should be communicated to Region Senior Management and as instructed by the Regional Operations Director. The Regional Safety Manager will be evaluated on their ability to fulfill these requirements.
Training and Sales Support
- Ensures Branch Management is trained in safety management issues.
- Assists, as directed, in developing the region’s relevant training material.
- May be invited to participate in meetings with customers where specific safety issues or questions may arise. Participation in these meetings is by request of the Regional Operations Director or Regional Sales Manager.
- Remains current in relevant safety issues and regulations and seeks training to enhance personal skills in safety management.
Investigations
- Investigates incidents and recommends corrective action to prevent recurrence. Some investigations may be directed by a member of the Risk & Safety Team. All serious incidents (i.e., those involving serious injury or those with loss to third parties) must be done under the direction of the Safety and Risk Team. Incidents involving the death of an employee, serious injury or illness as defined by OSHA, are reported immediately to the Safety & Risk Team. The RSC may be asked to help with these investigations but are not authorized to do an independent investigation.
Safety Observations and Corrective Action
- Supports management in taking the appropriate action when employees compromise the health and safety of themselves, coworkers, or the public, especially intentional and repeated actions.
- May be asked to participate in corrective action issues by the Regional Operations Director and/or Regional People Services Manager.
