Shenandoah University’s Office of Advancement is accepting applications for an Associate Director of Alumni and Sesquicentennial Communications. This is a full-time benefited position located in Winchester, Virginia.
The primary responsibility of the Associate Director of Alumni and Sesquicentennial Communications is to manage alumni communication through print, electronic, and social media channels, fostering strong relationships between alumni and the university. Additionally, this role involves designing and coordinating written and digital communication for Shenandoah’s Sesquicentennial and the Sesquicentennial campaign.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Print, Electronic, and Social Media Communication:
Compose alumni communications using appropriate images, articles, profiles, class notes, social media posts, and event descriptions.
Design alumni promotional materials, including brochures, invitations, and postcards, while liaising with the Office of Marketing & Communications for additional design needs.
Design and implement Sesquicentennial campaign materials as needed by the Office of Advancement.
Create written and digital materials for Shenandoah’s Sesquicentennial Celebration, including brochures, event invitations, and promotional materials.
Develop and implement a social media strategy across platforms (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube) to enhance visibility and alumni engagement, and regularly analyze trends to measure impact.
Update and schedule posts on SU Alumni Association social media channels.
Manage the email marketing schedule to alumni, including event promotions, surveys, news, announcements, and stewardship.
Produce the monthly alumni e-newsletter using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, featuring alumni success stories, upcoming events, event recaps, class notes, job postings, announcements, and campus news.
Maintain and update the SU alumni website using WordPress, ensuring best practices to promote alumni engagement and encourage frequent visits. This includes creating and editing forms, posts, and pages.
Alumni Outreach and Event Support:
Assist in the planning and execution of alumni and advancement events in support of the Associate Director of Alumni and Advancement Events.
Provide coverage for all alumni events with photos and videos to promote alumni engagement.

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field.

Extensive experience in social media/marketing, including platforms like Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube.
Exemplary written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, copywriting, editing, and publication coordination.
