The Pediatric Digestive Health Service Line Administrative Director oversees the management of service line activities. Responsibilities encompass the overall management of the service line including business development, personnel management, financial management, and long-term strategic planning. They collaborate closely with partners across UCSF Health and the Benioff Children’s Hospitals leadership to ensure the overall success of the service line.
The Service Line Director actively participates in developing the Digestive Health strategic plan and implements strategic initiatives focused on improving the profitability, market share and quality of care for the service line. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and managing all non-clinical aspects of the service line such as: growth of TQ programming, quality and safety improvement, optimizing operations and improving the cross-continuum patient experience. The Director will work closely with the Pediatric General Surgery Division Chief, Pediatric Gastroenterology Division Chief, Department Chairs, Medical Directors and Senior leadership at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals to implement all service related goals.
The Pediatric Digestive Health Service Line Director extends their leadership and oversight to encompass local and regional outreach efforts collaborating with Digestive Health Faculty Directors, Medical Directors, and Clinical leadership. They will develop comprehensive strategic plans, establish priorities, and articulate a shared vision for Pediatric Digestive Health. The director is accountable for the execution of short and long term goals with appropriate stakeholders at all levels throughout the organization.
The Service Line Director will also actively promote optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and partnership with physician and nursing leaders.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

- Master's Degree in business, health administration or clinical degree
- Seven (7) years of related experience including leadership
- Project Management background strongly desired
- Bachelor's degree in business, health administration or clinical degree and / or equivalent experience / training
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience
- Minimum three (3) years of related experience including leadership
- Experience in managing and leading programs, work units or departments, including experience in administrative or managerial positions
- Extensive knowledge of hospital operations in a multi-hospital setting; knowledge of appropriate professional standards for the multidisciplinary team
- In-depth knowledge of a broad scope of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments
- Knowledge of finance concepts such as operating and capital budgeting, statistics, financial forecasting and modeling
- Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management
- Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirement related to the functional area
- Proven organization/prioritization, decision-making, problem analysis and resolution, team building and leadership. Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills
- Demonstrate an independent work initiative, sound judgment, high accuracy/attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, diplomacy, tact and a professional demeanor
- Excellent public speaking, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Analytical ability sufficient to compare, organize, and analyze data
