Position/Title: Upper School Physics Adjunct

Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and talented teacher who can teach either a single section of Honors Physics 9th grade or AP Physics C: Mechanics. This single section will be scheduled during either a morning or an afternoon rotation of classes. The ideal teacher will create a rich, inquiry-based, learning environment and offer a variety of instruction including lab work, discussions and research projects. They will have the ability to work collaboratively with other STEAM teachers and develop and deliver effective lessons that differentiate instruction to a diverse group of learners.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Preparation and implementation of daily lessons
- Design, implementation, and timely evaluation of appropriate, authentic formative and summative assessment
- Timely and proactive communication with student, parents, advisor about student progress
- Attendance at science department meetings as schedule allows
- Potential for collaboration with other members of the faculty, administration, and staff on experiential, interdisciplinary and community-based opportunities that add to the school community
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science or graduate degree in Physics/Engineering or related field. Prior experience teaching in a high school setting is an asset. Candidates for Laurel teaching positions should be enthusiastic about pedagogy, particularly inquiry-based approaches and differentiated implementation that is best suited to a variety of learners. Successful candidates will possess a positive attitude, excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational skills, and proven success within a work setting that requires collaboration, cooperation, and collegiality. The candidate must possess or acquire and maintain a State of Ohio issued teaching certificate. The school welcomes the opportunity to continue to find ways to diversify our faculty.
