The Department
The Public Works Department, which consists of approximately 200 employee and six divisions: Administration, Engineering, Sanitation Services, Water Operations, Street Operations and Streetscape. The Department is responsible for the City's sound infrastructure and aesthetic environment including our streets, sidewalks, landscaping, traffic, sewers, and water system. Each of its divisions contribute to their consistent, superior level of public service and interdepartmental support, which is achieved by deploying practical, competent, and innovative methods.

The Position
The Administrative Analyst in the Public Works Department is a key position that has an active role in the analysis and reporting of data; research and interpretation of data impacting key performance indicators; and management of special projects to achieve Public Works objectives.

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills would be acceptable. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

A Bachelor's Degree from a college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field and at least one (1) year of related professional experience; OR two (2) years of related college course work and four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative or analytical experience.

Experience working in a Public Works Department is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be proficient in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), New Word procurement software, Laserfiche Workflow software, Accela work request portal, and ADP payroll software;
• Have the ability to monitor and track divisional workloads and projects, identify issues and trends, and make recommendations to ensure accurate and efficient operations;
• Demonstrate the ability to perform research, and analyze and communicate data;
• Exercise sound judgement and strong problem-solving skills;
• Be an effective communicator with the ability to convey clear and succinct messages verbally and in writing;
• Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
