Under general supervision, the Legal Technician assists in legal research, analysis, fact-finding, documentation, and tracking for legal matters, cases, advice, and opinions.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following

Required Education and ExperienceEducation: An Associate’s degree in business administration, pre-law, or social science involving qualitative and quantitative research, or another field closely related to the knowledge and abilities requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience: Two years of experience performing one or more of the following duties on a regular basis: researching and providing technical assistance to lawyers in legal matters, and litigation, providing guidance regarding legal procedures and regulations, or assisting in investigations.
Equivalency Provision: A Bachelor's degree in business administration, pre-law, or social science involving qualitative and quantitative research, or another field closely related to the knowledge and abilities requirements of this classification may substitute for one year of experience.
Additional Requirements: A paralegal certificate is desirable. A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required.
Hybrid remote schedules may be available. To ensure the health and safety of its staff, LACOE may require employees to provide evidence of full vaccination against COVID-19.
Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a Written Exam, a Performance Exam, and a Structured Interview.
