Responsibilities Assists with patient personal hygiene and grooming according to hospital procedures in a reasonable amount of time. Assist with special procedures as instructed by the registered nurse and according to hospital procedures. Obtains vital signs following standard procedure (respirations, pulse, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, temperature, pain level) and documents in the electronic medical record per policy Promptly reports any vital sign that is outside of the patient baseline limits as identified by the RN Performs point-of-care blood glucose monitoring following correct policy and procedure guidelines Performs other non-direct patient care activities as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Pascack Valley Medical Center (PVMC) policies, procedures, and protocols that pertain to proper patient care within the scope of responsibility of the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Demonstrates understating of the role of the PCA in responding to patient care emergencies and other PVMC facility alerts Recognizes the importance of patient satisfaction with each patient and family encounter Promptly reports to the RN any concern relating to patient care safety and patient satisfaction issues Demonstrates understanding of responsibility as a PCA in following relevant policies and procedures to meet the National Patient Safety Goals.
