Objective and Primary Responsibilities / Summary
The Office Work Experience Trainee is a temporary work experience position that provides the participant an opportunity to learn the basic tasks and skills of the position. Participants are placed at a variety of work sites and each experience is unique in skills attainment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs office duties in support of an assigned department or division; receives and directs telephone calls and visitors; provides information on department or division services and operations
- Assists in managing the flow and preparation of paperwork.
- Acts as a receptionist; answers the telephone and provides information on department policies and procedures
- Maintains a variety of files and records in assigned department; files in accordance with establishing filing system.
- Provides customer service, information, referrals and assistance to the general public and other departments
- Collects, sorts, posts, adds, and modifies accurate data as necessary for tracking purposes into respective databases systems and/or processes.
- Records and updates directories as needed
- Orders, receives and organizes materials and supplies
- Maintains, requests, and cancels vendors’ services as needed. Sorts and distributes internal and external correspondence appropriately
- Precisely prepares and tracks outgoing mail
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision

- No prior experience or training.

English Language Skills
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

- Shift flexibility and overtime when needed

- Non-profit experience preferred
- Spanish / English bilingual preferred
