The Grounds Supervisor is a working supervisor. Overall responsibility for the campus exterior including landscape, paved surfaces and athletic fields. The Grounds Supervisor plans, resources and executes projects. The Grounds Supervisor fills in for the Support Services Supervisor as needed. Employees of Ursinus College must possess excellent customer service skills and have an overall concern for the general welfare of the college and community and provide the best possible environment for education and student living. Specific Responsibilities: Requires the use of specialized, power equipment. Always obey all safety requirements and procedures. Perform preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use. Secure the work area and post proper safety notices for other users of the space prior to beginning work. Help with the maintenance of athletic fields and exterior facilities. Help with the operation & maintenance of irrigation systems. Maintain the campus landscape. Apply fertilizers and pesticides within an Integrated Pest-Control Management Program (IPM). Maintain campus trees and may be asked to be a member of the tree care committee. Plant trees, shrubs, plants & bulbs. Perform landscape estimating and construction. Maintain grounds equipment & vehicles to a high state of readiness. Purchase supplies & services within the grounds budget. Oversee contracted services. Manage grounds-related construction projects. Assist with special events. Assemble Zone maintenance and Snow Removal plans. Assume overall responsibility for campus snow & ice removal. Including filing of snow reports with the Environmental Health and Safety Risk Manager. Establish work priorities. Delegate work. Ensure work orders are filled out properly and completely. Manage a staff of up to 10 grounds workers. Personnel oversight & accountability. Materials and resource procurement. Coordination of work groups. Review blueprints and specifications. Respond to on-call, after-hours emergencies. Interact with the college community. Qualifications High school diploma/ GED required 5 years' experience in the landscape profession. Minimum 2 years supervisory experience. General knowledge of other trades. Ability to work collaboratively with other supervisors. Ability to manage a work group. Thorough knowledge athletic maintenance & layout. Valid driver's license. Current Pesticide Applicator's License core and cat. #23.
