DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The IT Lead – Applications (Houston Emergency Center/Computer Aided Dispatch) will be responsible for the support of critical applications for the HOUSTON EMERGENCY CENTER. This role will provide technical and functional oversight for the Computed Aided Dispatch application and related integration to other agencies such as HFD, HPD, and the DA's Office. The role will work closely with the IT Manager to design, implement, and maintain the COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH system to ensure business continuity of all systems. This position will also provide technical guidance to the support team and maintain the continuity of HOUSTON EMERGENCY CENTER application institutional knowledge. This role is especially important as more resources will be needed for future next generation COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH replacement project.
Provide application support for the Houston Emergency Center. Manages a software development team supporting Public Safety Agencies for the City of Houston. This team develop and maintain custom applications, dashboards, and reports.
WORKING CONDITIONS
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions.
Extended work hours may be required due to situational emergencies, such as critical systems failures or extended installation times. If designated TIER 1, the successful candidate may be required to stay at the Emergency Center during major events, such as severe storms.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field.
Information systems-specific technical certifications may be substituted for 1 year of either the education or the experience requirement, as applicable. Related professional Information Systems experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
EXPERIENCEAt least six (6) years of technology experience supporting applications.
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.
LICENSE
Must be able to obtain CJIS Certification.
PREFERENCES
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. **
Experience working in a Public Safety Environment or large call center.
