Education Recommendations

Currently a candidate for a Master’s degree (or higher) in Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline from a leading college/university. PhD candidate is a plus.

As a UAV Embedded Localization SW Co-op, you will be responsible for the development of software that helps the drone perceive its environment using computer vision and estimate its pose without GPS. This includes the implementation of computer vision, odometry, SLAM, sensor fusion, and state estimation on embedded hardware.

As part of our team, you will:

• Understand requirement specifications, software architectures, and agile development cycles.
• Design and implement software and algorithms for computer vision-based drone localization in large-scale indoor environments.
• Develop modular and easily deployable software artifacts using packages and containers.
• Develop test plans to verify correct functional behavior in simulation and/or hardware.

You have:

• Development experience with C++ and implementation on embedded platforms such as Qualcomm, TI, or Nvidia devices.
• Knowledge, understanding, and prior experience with developing robotics algorithms coordinate transformations, Robot Operating Systems (ROS), and Linux.
• Experience with the development or integration of visual odometry, inertial odometry, visual SLAM, computer vision, sensor fusion, state estimation, and machine learning algorithms.

It would be nice if you also had:

• Experience with OpenCV, OpenGV, PX4, and IsaacSim.
• Experience with any of the following: TI SDK, Qualcomm Neural Processing SDK, or TensorRT.
• Experience with software version control (git) and comfortable working in an agile and distributed development team (issue reporting, tracking, development sprints, code reviews).
• Understanding of software integration and deployment strategies, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker).
• Experience developing software for Android-based embedded devices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving skills, self-starter, highly motivated, and team player.
